Advanced MX-5802N 2-8 loop fire alarm panel, front view

Advanced MxPro 5 Addressable Fire Alarm Panel, 2-8 Loop, Nittan Evolution MX-5802N

Overview

A multi-loop fire alarm panel runs several loops of detectors, call points and sounders from one cabinet. Advanced builds this panel for larger sites, and this order code is the Nittan Evolution version on a standard network.

It is one of the commercial fire alarm panels in the MxPro 5 series, and it can be networked with other MxPro 5 or MxPro 4 panels.

How it works

  • Addressable loops: each device on a loop has its own address, so the panel can name the exact device in alarm. Every device on every loop must share the panel's protocol, which here is Nittan Evolution.
  • Cause and effect: programmable rules link inputs to outputs, and enhanced Trace Diagnostics help with fault finding.
  • Dual processors: dual flash-based processors with a real-time clock run the panel and keep two event logs of 5000 event and diagnostic entries plus 500 fire entries.

Where to use it

It suits buildings that need more than one loop, from small sites to large complex multi-area systems. The steel IP30 enclosure belongs indoors in a dry plant room or entrance, between -5°C and 40°C and up to 95% humidity.

What the figures mean in practice

  • 400 zones across 8 loops: a zone is the area responders are sent to; a fully built panel covers 400, and 2000 across a network.
  • 2 x 5A output: loops, sounder circuits and the two 24v auxiliary supplies share this budget, so total the loads when planning.
  • Up to 45Ah batteries: one battery fits inside and a second in the optional battery enclosure, which helps on sites that need long standby times.

Installing it

The equipment chassis lifts out and uses plug-in connectors, which makes fixing the cabinet and terminating cables simpler. Plan cable routes before fixing, as entries are on the top, the rear and the bottom of the cabinet.

During commissioning, Auto-learn and loop detection find the devices, and the onboard scope helps find loop faults. The eight 1 Amp sounder circuits drive conventional sounders and bells wired to them.

Planning your system

  • Extra loops: two loop cards come fitted; add one MXP-567 Nittan loop driver card per extra loop, up to 8.
  • Relays: four programmable 1 Amp relays are on board, and two MXP-507 relay cards take the relay count to 8.
  • Power reserve: choose standby batteries up to 45Ah from the system's standby and alarm load.
  • Expansion: the integral P-Bus accepts option cards, and other panel modules and interfaces extend what the system can do.

Standards and ratings explained

EN54-2 covers fire alarm control and indicating equipment, and EN54-4 covers its power supply equipment; this panel is approved to both. IP30 means the enclosure keeps out fingers and tools but gives no protection against water.
