Advanced GO1V+ addressable fire alarm panel, front view

Advanced Go+ Addressable Fire Alarm Panel, 1 Loop, Argus Vega, 240 Addresses GO1V+

Overview

An addressable fire panel knows exactly which device has gone into alarm, because every detector, call point and sounder on the loop has its own address. Advanced built the Go series for single-loop systems that stand alone.

The GO1V+ is the higher-capacity Argus Vega version, with up to 240 addresses. The commercial fire alarm guide explains why a panel's protocol must match its devices.

How it works

  • Zone LEDs: 15 integral zone LEDs show where an alarm is without scrolling through the display, with 35 more zones shown in software.
  • Graphical display: a white backlit graphical LCD and keypad give select-and-click programming and plain status messages.
  • Fault finding: auto-learn, loop detection and an on-board scope help find wiring problems during commissioning.
  • Monitoring: partial open and short circuits are detected to EN54-13 (2005) clauses 5.3.4.1 and 5.3.4.2.

Where to use it

The panel suits small to medium systems on one loop that already use, or plan to use, Argus Vega devices.

Its steel IP30 enclosure calls for a dry indoor position, usually near the main entrance where the fire service will arrive.

What the figures mean in practice

  • 240 addresses: the most devices the loop can carry. Loop current and cable length usually set a lower working figure, so run the loop calculation.
  • 500mA max loop current: the budget shared by every device on the loop, including loop-powered sounders.
  • 1A total for sounders: the two sounder outputs share 1A, so conventional sounders beyond that need a separate supply.
  • 18.0V–28.0V: connected sounders and auxiliary loads need to work anywhere in this band, so check their own voltage range.

Installing it

  • Chassis first: the door lifts off and the chassis hangs on the back box, so the enclosure can be fixed and cabled before the electronics go in.
  • Cable entry: bring cables in through the top knockouts. Fire-resistant cable is the usual choice for fire alarm circuits.
  • Supply: a dedicated, labelled mains spur feeds the panel, as a rule.
  • Programming: set up on site at the panel, or by PC over USB Type B with the Configuration Tool.

Planning your system

The job also needs Argus Vega detectors, call points and sounders, plus standby batteries sized by the load calculation. For alarm receiving centre signalling, the GOP-001 PBUS adaptor card and MXP-532 routing interface are options for the Go series.

For a smaller site, the GO1V takes 50 Argus Vega addresses. More panels and accessories sit in the Advanced fire alarm range.
