What it does

The CurtainCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD) Jeweller uses 2 × PIR sensor and 1 × K-band microwave sensor to detect motion up to 15 m when installed at a height of 2–4 m, at a motion detection speed from 0.3 to 2.0 m/s. The main motion detection zone angles are horizontal: 7° and vertical: 73°.

A wider pre-alarm zone (horizontal: 43°, vertical: 88°) lets the device start taking photos when a threat is detected there; however, the device does not raise an alarm if the intruder never crosses the main detection zone.

SmartDetect, a software algorithm, handles false alarm prevention, and temperature compensation gives effective motion detection at temperatures from −25 °C to +60 °C. Sensitivity has 3 levels.

Where it is used

The device is designed for outdoor and indoor use, with protection class IP55, an operating temperature range from −25 °C to +60 °C and operating humidity up to 95%.

Installation notes

It is recommended to install the detector at a height of 2–4 m, with the detector sensors directed perpendicular to the expected intrusion path into the facility. The Pet immunity feature is not offered for this device.

The complete set includes 6 × CR123A battery (pre-installed), SmartBracket mounting panel, swivel mount, hood and installation kit; a holding screw secures the device to SmartBracket. With the swivel mount it measures 234 × 98 × 275 mm and weighs 1,109 g.

Calculated battery life is up to 3 years. An optional external supply of 12−24 V can be connected, and the batteries then serve as a backup.

Radio communication range is up to 1,700 m between the device and a hub (or a range extender) in open space. Communication loss is detected after 36 s, depending on the Jeweller or Jeweller/Fibra settings.

Day to day

Photos are taken by alarm when the detector is armed and motion is detected. Photo on demand is disabled by default; photo by scenario (when other Ajax detectors are triggered) and photo by schedule are not configured by default; photo by arming/disarming runs when the security state is changed.

A series of pictures is from 1 to 5 images at 320 × 240 px or from 1 to 3 images at 640 × 480 px, and photos take up to 9 s to arrive at 320 × 240 px resolution or up to 20 s at 640 × 480 px resolution. Sensitivity and photo resolution are adjusted by a PRO or a user with admin rights in Ajax apps.
