What it is

MotionProtect U Jeweller is Ajax's wireless PIR motion detector, with 1 × PIR sensor. Its motion detection distance is up to 12 m when installed at a height of 2.4 m, with a horizontal detection angle of 88.5° and a detection speed from 0.3 to 2.0 m/s. The direction of the lens should be perpendicular to an alleged intrusion path into the facility.

The Fresnel lens sections are designed to differentiate between the IR diagrams of a human, pet and thermal noise. With correct installation at 2.4 m and the lens perpendicular to the intrusion path, it gives pet immunity for pets weighing up to 20 kg and up to 50 cm in height.

False alarm prevention

It has 3 sensitivity levels, adjusted by a PRO or a user with admin rights in Ajax apps. Low sensitivity makes the detector less likely to respond to an active pet; with high sensitivity, an alarm is raised whenever there is any movement in the detection area.

The SmartDetect software algorithm filters false alarms, and temperature compensation keeps motion detection effective at temperatures from −10 °C to +40 °C.

Communication and protection

It uses Jeweller communication on 868.0–868.6 MHz, with a maximum effective radiated power of up to 20 mW and a range of up to 1,700 m between the device and a hub (or a range extender) in an open space. All stored and transmitted data is protected by block encryption, frequency hopping counters radio interference and jamming, and device authentication protects against spoofing.

The tamper alarm notifies of attempts to detach the detector from the surface or remove it from the mounting panel, and a holding screw secures it on SmartBracket. Communication loss is detected after 36 s; detection time depends on the Jeweller/Fibra settings.

Power and installation

It runs on 1 × CR123A battery, pre-installed, with a calculated battery life of up to 5 years. It is recommended to install the detector at a height of 2.4 m, and the device is designed for indoor use only. With the SmartBracket panel it can be mounted on the wall or in a corner without disassembling the enclosure, and it is paired with the hub by scanning the QR code.

It measures 110 × 65 × 50 mm and the white device weighs 96 g. Operating temperature is from −10 °C to +40 °C, operating humidity up to 75%, and the protection class is IP50, IK04. It holds a Security Grade 2 certificate issued by TREZOR TEST s.r.o. and is listed for compliance with EN 50131-2-2:2021, among other security alarm standards.
