About this product

The Apollo 58200-951APO is a waterproof manual call point for addressable fire alarm loops. It suits outdoor applications, and areas where water ingress or high humidity is a problem. This red version includes a short circuit isolator, is IP56 rated, and works with XP95, Discovery and CoreProtocol.

Key features

  • Built for wet places – IP56 rated, with an IP67 rated electronics enclosure
  • Keeps working through a loop fault – a short circuit isolator ensures operation in the event of a short circuit fault
  • Nothing to replace after use – a resettable operating element
  • Simple to put back – easy access, front reset mechanism with an ergonomic reset key
  • Quick response – when activated it interrupts the polling cycle
  • Copes with the cold – operating temperature -30°C to +70°C
  • Easy to fit – captive screws for easy installation

For installers

  • Power: loop powered at 17-28V dc. Quiescent 100µA, alarm current 4mA with the LED on.
  • Mounting: 114mm height x 114mm width x 74mm depth. Apollo recommends cable entry from the bottom.
  • Cabling: 20 mm cable entries. Use IP rated cable glands, and tighten and seal all glands and blanking plugs.
  • Compatibility: XP95, Discovery and CoreProtocol compatible. On a CoreProtocol panel the device behaves as Discovery, fire control panel dependant.
  • Standards: EN 54-11, EN 54-17, CPR, BOSEC, ESC, FG, SBSC, VNIIPO & SAI.

Frequently asked questions

Can this call point go outdoors?

Yes. It is intended for outdoor applications, and it is IP56 rated. That relies on correctly IP rated cable glands and sealed entries.

Does it have a built-in isolator?

Yes. This is the isolated version, Part No. 58200-951, with a yellow LED to indicate isolator operation.

How is it reset?

With the reset key. Insert it into the front facing LED and turn clockwise until there is a positive click.

Which fire alarm protocols does it work with?

XP95, Discovery and CoreProtocol, depending on the fire control panel. Check your panel before ordering.

How is the address set?

By a seven-segment DIL switch, at the commissioning stage. A DIL switch is a small bank of on-off switches.

Which colour is it?

Red. A yellow version exists under a separate part number.

Apollo Waterproof Addressable Manual Call Point, Red with Isolator 58200-951APO

What this call point does

A manual call point lets a person raise the fire alarm by hand. This addressable version sits on a loop of intelligent fire detection devices, so the panel can identify it individually.

This Apollo model is the waterproof one with isolator, for outdoor areas and for indoor areas where water or high humidity is a problem.

How it works

  • Interrupting the poll: the panel talks to loop devices in turn, which is called polling. Operating this device interrupts that cycle, which gives a very fast response.
  • The isolator: if a short circuit occurs on the loop, the isolator keeps this device operating, and a yellow LED shows it has acted.
  • The red LED: this is controlled independently by the fire control panel, so its behaviour depends on how the panel is set up.

Where to use it

Good fits include outdoor walls and other exposed or damp positions. Its humidity rating excludes condensation or icing, so that limit is worth bearing in mind in very cold or wet spots.

Where call points go on escape routes and at exits is decided by the system design and BS 5839-1, not by the product.

What the figures mean in practice

  • IP56: the first digit means dust protected, and the second means protected against powerful water jets. The higher IP67 figure covers only the electronics enclosure inside.
  • Analogue values: the panel reads 16 in quiescent and 64 in alarm.
  • 100µA: the small quiescent current matters when adding up the load on a loop.

Installing it

  • Enter from below: Apollo recommends bottom cable entry on this waterproof model.
  • Seal every opening: PTFE or similar thread sealer is recommended, and the IP integrity relies on every gland and blanking plug being tight and sealed.
  • Set the address: the DIL switch is set at commissioning. Keep a note of it against each location.

Planning your system

Start with the panel, since compatibility is fire control panel dependant. On CoreProtocol it behaves as a Discovery device, and it behaves as its own protocol on XP95 and Discovery.

Allow for correctly IP rated cable glands too.

Standards and ratings explained

  • EN 54-11: the EN standard for manual call points.
  • EN 54-17: the EN standard for short-circuit isolators, which applies to this part only among its siblings.
  • EMC and RoHS: this part falls under 2014/30/EU EMC Directive and the RoHS directive 2011/65/EU.
