The CDVI SHL1200 is a fail safe shear lock for single action doors with good quality door closers, running on 12 to 24Vdc. It gives up to 1,200kg holding force in the shear position and is monitored as standard. It mounts flush and suits aluminium and wooden doors.

What is a shear lock?
A lock whose two parts sit face to face, one in the frame and one in the door, and hold against a sideways pull. This one holds up to 1,200kg in the shear position.
Does it stay locked in a power cut?
Only while its own power supply stays on, because it is fail safe. It stays locked through a mains cut only on a battery-backed supply, and on an escape route it must still release, usually through a fire alarm link and a release device. Check this with whoever holds the building's fire strategy.
