Frequently asked questions

What glass thickness does it fit?

9mm to 15mm thick glass. Check the door before ordering if yours is thinner or thicker.

Which maglocks does it work with?

Internal surface electro-magnetic locks with 300kg, 400kg or 500kg armatures. Check the plate's fixing holes against the bracket.

Does it suit an inward-opening door?

Not on its own. For an inward-opening door, a second UBKP is required to fit the Z-bracket, so check the layout before ordering.

Is a UBKP needed as well?

Yes, where the L-bracket fixes to glass above the door. The UBKP mounts that L-bracket, and the UBKU is used in combination with it.

Can it be used outside?

It is for internal surface locks. Treat it as an indoor part.

CDVI Maglock U Bracket for Armature Plates on 9mm to 15mm Glass Doors UBK-U

Overview

A maglock needs two parts fixed firmly: the magnet and the steel plate it pulls on. On a glass door there is nothing to screw the plate into, so this CDVI bracket clamps over the glass and gives the plate a solid base.

How it works

The bracket is U-shaped and sits over the edge of the glass. The armature plate, the steel part of the lock, then fixes to the bracket rather than to the door.

As a rule, the plate must meet the magnet flat and square, because poor contact reduces the hold.

Where to use it

It belongs on frameless or glazed doors with an internal surface maglock. On a door opening to the outside, the maglock goes inside and the armature on the bracket.

What the figures mean in practice

  • IK10: this is an impact rating. IK ratings run on a scale, and a higher number means the part has been tested against a harder knock.
  • 0.53kg: this is the bracket on its own, so add the plate when thinking about the load on the glass.

Installing it

Check the bracket's measurements against the door and the lock before ordering. As a rule, glass doors are hard to drill or alter later, so set out the plate and magnet position first.

Planning your system

  • The lock: this code is a bracket only. Choose from the maglocks with a 300kg, 400kg or 500kg armature, then check that the plate's holes line up.
  • Glass above the door: if the magnet's L-bracket needs fixing to glass over the door, the job also needs the UBKP.
  • Other fixings: Other maglock brackets cover different door layouts. An inward-opening door uses a Z-bracket.
