Comelit 7TOP 7" Wi-Fi Hands-Free ViP Video Monitor, Black TP6842B

Overview

The 7TOP is Comelit's indoor video monitor for its ViP door entry system, which runs over IP network cabling. This is the black version, with a 7-inch colour touchscreen and hands-free speech.

Calls can also reach a smartphone through the Comelit Cloud, so the door can be answered from outside the house.

How it works

• Hands-free: full-duplex means both sides can talk at once, like a phone call, with no button to hold.
• Network: the monitor joins the network by Ethernet or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and takes its address by DHCP, AUTO IP or a static IP.
• Built-in functions: video memo records missed callers, privacy mode silences calls, and doctor mode opens the door automatically on a call.

Where to use it

At IP30 and 5 ÷ 40 °C it is an indoor unit. It wall mounts on its metal backplate or stands on a desk with the AC6812 base.

What the figures mean in practice

• IEEE 802.3af: the standard PoE level, so most PoE network switches can power it through the data cable.
• 6 W maximum: a modest load, but it still counts against the switch's total power budget.
• 4 inputs, 1 output: local programmable inputs and a programmable output, plus a separate output for an additional ringtone.

Installing it

Fix the metal backplate, connect the network cable and any local inputs, then hang the monitor. The terminals are removable, which makes wiring easier on a busy wall.

As a rule, test Wi-Fi strength at the mounting point before relying on wireless; a cabled connection is the steadier choice.

Planning your system

The monitor needs a ViP entrance panel, a network and a power source. A PoE switch is the simplest way to power it, and this guide to PoE switches explains power budgets.
