Overview

A fire alarm panel often needs to know what other equipment is doing, such as a sprinkler flow switch, a plant trip or a signal from another system. An input module is one common way of bringing those signals in.

This Comelit module sits on the panel's addressable loop and gives it four inputs. It suits a fire installer or maintainer adding monitored signals to a system.

How it works

• Addressable: the panel talks to each device on the loop by its own address, and controls this module by its communication protocol.
• Balanced inputs: in most installations, balanced wiring uses resistors so the module can tell a normal circuit from an open or short circuit, which means a cut cable shows as a fault.
• Isolator: the built-in isolator separates a short circuit on the loop, so one fault does not stop the whole loop.

Where to use it

The plastic container is suited to wall mounting, and the transparent cover allows a visual check without opening it. At IP21 it belongs in a dry indoor space.

What the figures mean in practice

• Loop load: the stand-by and LED figures go into the loop calculation with the panel's design tool or manual.
• 0.4 ÷ 2.5 mm terminals: the cable cross-section the terminals accept, which suits the common fire cable sizes.

Planning your system

The job also needs an addressable fire alarm control panel that speaks this module's protocol. Read the protocol from the panel itself before ordering, because addressable devices are not interchangeable across protocols.
