What this Comelit module is for

A fire alarm often has to do more than sound. It may need to signal a damper or tell another system there is a fire, and a relay module is one common way of doing that.

This module sits on the panel's addressable loop and gives it one switched output. It suits a fire installer or maintainer adding a controlled function to a system.

How does it work?

• Addressed module: addressable means the panel can talk to each device on the loop by its own address. Here the panel controls the relay using the communication protocol.
• Voltage-free contact: the relay is a plain switch with no power of its own, so it can switch a separate circuit without connecting it to the loop.
• Isolator: An isolator cuts off a short-circuited section of the loop, so the rest of the loop can keep working.

Where to use it

The larger box gives more room for input and output wiring, so it can suit jobs where the module sits beside the equipment it controls. It is surface mounted, in grey plastic.

IP55 and a -10 ÷ 60 °C range suit plant rooms and similar areas. Whether the switched function is allowed on the fire system is a matter for the system designer.

What the figures mean in practice

• 4A@250VAC / 3A@30VDC: these are maximum currents, not targets. Motors and other loads with a large start-up current need a check against the relay's limit.
• Loop load: the stand-by and LED absorption figures go into the loop calculation with the panel's design tool or manual.

Planning your system

The job also needs an addressable fire alarm control panel that speaks this module's protocol. Read the protocol from the panel itself before ordering, because addressable devices are not interchangeable across protocols.

Other fire panel modules can add inputs or further outputs where one relay is not enough.
