Comelit Door Entry Handset, Simplebus 1 Mini Audio, White 2708W/A

What this handset is for

A door entry handset sits inside the home or flat and connects to a panel at the entrance. It lets someone hear the caller, speak back and release the door without going downstairs.

This Comelit model is an audio unit in the Mini series. It suits installers working on Simplebus 1 systems, and residents who want a slim white phone on the wall.

How it works

• Simplebus 1: Comelit's name for this audio system. The handset takes its power from the bus.
• Full-Duplex: both people can talk at the same time, like an ordinary phone call, instead of taking turns.
• Floor call input: this lets a separate bell push at the flat door ring the handset. It also has an outside door call input.
• Porter button: a button for additional services such as porter calls, where the building has them.

Where to use it

It belongs indoors, in a hallway or on a wall near the flat door. Its operating range is -5 ÷ 40 °C and 25 ÷ 75 % humidity.

It is for wall mounting, or for a desk with a dedicated accessory. Check the code of that accessory with Comelit before ordering.

What the figures mean in practice

• 25 mA maximum current absorption: this is the most one handset takes from the bus, so count every handset when checking the system's supply.
• 1 mA minimum current absorption: this is the least the handset takes from the bus.
• 300 g: a light unit, so wall fixings are simple.

Installing it

• Wiring: the clamps are L L CFP CFP. Follow the system's own wiring diagram when connecting them.
• Replacing an older phone: in most cases, check the existing panel is a Comelit Simplebus 1 system first. The video intercom guide explains how to tell analogue from IP wiring before ordering.
• Extra functions: Comelit's additional board art. 2735 adds a further button with voltage free contacts. It is purchased separately.

Planning your system

This handset is one end of the system. As a rule, the job also needs a Simplebus 1 entrance panel, a bus power supply and a lock or strike to release, and other intercom systems and intercom and door entry accessories are worth comparing if the existing system is a different type.

Standards explained

RoHS covers restricted hazardous substances, and EMC covers electrical interference. The environmental class for its operating conditions is shown in the specifications.
