CQR Double Push Panic Button, Key Resettable, Brass Effect and Black, Grade 3 PADP3/BS/BK

Overview

A hold up device lets someone call for help quietly, without walking to the alarm keypad. Designs with two buttons reduce the chance of a knock or a stray elbow setting it off.

How it works

• Activation: Use both buttons to operate the alarm switch, and the indicator shows that it has been used.
• Reset: The key puts the device back to normal, so a reset stays with whoever holds the key.
• Latching choice: Latching holds the signal until reset, while non-latching follows the button.

Where to use it

Environmental class II is an indoor class. Fit it where staff can reach it without being seen to reach it, such as beneath a desk or behind a counter.

What happens after the press, including any police or monitoring route, depends on the alarm system's setup and not on this button alone.

What the figures mean in practice

• 3A 50Vdc: the most the changeover switch is rated for. Alarm zones use far less, so this is rarely the limit in practice.
• 29.5mm: the smallest of its stated sizes. Check the clearance around knees and drawers against the full size before choosing a position.

Installing it

• Alarm circuit: Set normally open or normally closed to match the zone, then choose the end of line resistor option the panel expects.
• Tamper: Connect the normally closed tamper to the panel's tamper circuit, keeping within its rating.
• Testing: In most installations each button is tested and reset during commissioning, with the receiving end warned first.
