What this bracket is for

A magnetic lock only holds when its armature plate meets the magnet squarely. On an inward opening gate the two parts do not naturally line up, so a bracket has to bring them together.

This CQR bracket does that job for the AEM/MINGATE/F/S. It suits installers finishing a gate lock fit, and it is worth checking early because it is easy to forget on the order.

How a Z and L bracket works

• L section: as a rule, this part gives the magnet a face to sit on.
• Z section: as a rule, this part steps the armature across so it meets the magnet.

Where to use it

It is for gate electro-magnetic locks on inward opening gates, and it sits in CQR's External range. If the site calls for a specific IP rating, check it with CQR before ordering.

Satin anodised aluminium is an aluminium surface with a protective oxide layer. As a rule, check the fixings you use are suitable for outdoor metalwork too.

Installing it

• Check first: hold the bracket up to the lock and the gate before drilling, to confirm the fit and the hole positions.
• Check the gate: as a rule, the gate and post must be rigid, because movement opens up the gap between magnet and armature.

Planning your system

The bracket is only the fixing. The job also needs the lock itself, a power supply and a way to release it. Other maglocks and maglock brackets and accessories cover different door and gate layouts.

If the gate is on an escape route, ask whoever holds the site's fire strategy how it must release.
