CQR Single Push Panic Button, Latching, Key Reset, White PASP1

Overview

A hold up device, often called a panic button, lets staff or a householder raise the alarm by hand. Press the button once and it trips the alarm zone it is wired to.

This is the white version, a neat fit for most interiors. Its polystyrene housing is light and easy to fix to a desk or wall.

How it works

• Reedswitch: a magnetically worked contact that changes state when the button is pressed.
• Latching: the button stays in its activated state, so the alarm cannot be cancelled by letting go.
• Indicator: shows that this button was the one pressed, which helps when a site has several.

Where to use it

It suits a counter, reception desk or bedside where a quick, discreet call is needed. Environmental Class II covers indoor use in general, so keep it inside the building.

Grade 1 is the lowest of the four alarm grades. As a rule, check that it matches the grade the system and its insurer require, as a higher-graded system may need a higher-graded device.

Installing it

Wire it to a hold up or personal attack zone on the alarm panel using the 5 screw terminals, and set the contact to N/O or N/C to match the zone. With no tamper switch on the unit, keep the cable run protected and out of reach.

Fix it where it can be reached without being seen, and test it with the alarm company or the panel's engineer mode once it is in. Agree in advance who holds the key, so the button can be reset quickly after a call-out.
