CQR RS002/ALI/1M/G2/B Roller Shutter Contact, Grade 2, Type B Resistors, 1m Armoured Cable

Overview

These heavy duty roller shutter contacts can be used in most security systems up to and including grade 1 and 2, as specified in EN50131-1:2006. This contact can be used on roller shutter doors to detect the unauthorised entry of an intruder.

How it works

• Magnetic contact: magnetic contacts are reed sensors with magnets that let a system know whether a roller shutter is open or closed.
• Normally closed: a normally closed circuit is closed at rest and opens when the alarm condition happens.
• End of line: resistors at the contact let the panel tell an alarm from a tamper or a cut cable.

Where to use it

RS002 is for standard roller shutters up to Grade 2 security requirements.

For higher grade requirements, the RS007 Grade 3 series has a centre locator for added accuracy and security on site.

What the figures mean in practice

• Environmental class III: the class for equipment used outdoors but sheltered from the weather.
• IP32: the second digit covers only light dripping water, so keep the contact sheltered from driving rain.
• >1,000,000 cycles: the life expectancy of the switch in open and close cycles.

Installing it

• Position: place the reed housing so that it does not restrict the door closing, with the two pieces located together and lined up.
• Fixing to the floor: drill the floor using wall plugs designed to accept No 12 pan head screws, typically 7-8mm.
• Termination: use a suitable junction box that can isolate the spare wires from each other. CQR recommends its JB757/WH junction box.
