About this product

The CQR AEM20001/KIT is a Deedlock slimline electromagnetic lock for a single internal door, and it includes a ZL bracket. Like any magnetic lock it holds only while powered, so it is fail safe, on 12/24V DC. It is un-monitored.

Key features

  • Comes with its bracket – includes ZL Bracket
  • Runs on either supply – 12/24V DC self-regulating
  • Slim on the frame – L250 x H50 x D27, satin anodised aluminium
  • Graded to a door hardware standard – TS010 Grade 2
  • Keeps wiring simple – un-monitored, so no status output to connect

For installers

  • Power: 12 / 24V DC, self-regulating. Input current 500mA at 12V / 250mA at 24V.
  • Mounting: face fixed EM lock, magnet L250 x H50 x D27, supplied with ZL Bracket. Single door, internal.
  • Standards: TS010 Grade 2, Fire Test EN1634-1, Fire Rating E30 & E60, CE and UKCA marked, RoHS compliant.
  • Cabling: un-monitored, so there is no status contact to connect.

Frequently asked questions

Does it stay locked in a power cut?

Only while its own power supply stays on, because a magnetic lock holds only while powered. It stays held through a mains cut only on a battery-backed supply. On an escape route it must still release, usually through a fire alarm link and a release device, so check with whoever holds the fire strategy.

What does the kit include?

The slimline magnet and the ZL Bracket. Check the full contents with CQR before ordering.

What does un-monitored mean?

It means the lock does not report door or lock status back to a controller. A separate door contact would be needed for that.

Is it fire rated?

Fire Test EN1634-1 and Fire Rating E30 & E60 apply to a tested door and fitting, so check both with whoever holds the fire strategy before relying on them.

Can it be used outside?

It is suitable for internal doors, so do not plan on it for an external door.

CQR Deedlock Slimline Electromagnetic Lock Kit with Z&L Bracket, Unmonitored AEM20001/KIT

What this electromagnetic lock is for

An electromagnetic lock, or maglock, holds a door shut with a powered magnet on the frame and a steel plate on the door. There is no latch to wear or jam.

This CQR kit pairs the slimline magnet with its bracket, for doors where the frame has no flat face in line with the door. It is the plain version, without a status output.

How the bracket helps

  • Z&L bracket: An L bracket drops the magnet below the frame, and a Z bracket brings the plate into line with it. Together they suit doors that open away from the side the magnet sits on.
  • Self-regulating: this means the lock adapts itself to a 12 or 24V DC supply.

Where to use it

CQR designs it for medium use traffic areas on internal doors, which suits offices and staff corridors.

On an escape route, settle how the lock will release before fitting it. That can change the wiring and the parts you need.

What the figures mean in practice

  • Bracket fixing: A bracket can flex, so a bracket-fitted lock depends on a stiff frame and careful fixing.
  • 500mA at 12V, 250mA at 24V: a magnetic lock draws this all the time it is locked, so add it to your supply load. Running at 24V halves the current.

Installing it

  • Alignment: The plate must meet the magnet flat and square, because poor contact reduces holding force.
  • Protect the controller: A magnet coil can give a voltage spike when it switches off. Fit any suppression your controller's instructions call for.
  • Door status: if the site needs it, add a separate door contact or choose a monitored lock, as this one has no output.

Planning your system

A complete door needs a keypad or reader, a controller, an exit button and a 12/24V DC power supply sized for the constant draw.

On an escape route, a magnetic lock usually also needs a fire alarm link and an emergency door release. Agree the design with whoever holds the fire strategy.

Standards and ratings explained

  • TS010: This lock is tested to this performance technical standard, at Grade 2.
  • EN1634-1 and E30 & E60: EN1634-1 is a fire resistance test standard for doors. E30 and E60 are integrity periods in minutes, and any rating depends on the tested door and fitting.
