What this element does

The element is the flat part in the front of a call point that a person presses to raise the alarm. On a resettable type, pressing it does not leave broken glass behind.

This Eaton pack is a fire alarm accessory kept as spares, so it is mainly for engineers and site teams rather than for a new installation.

Why keep spares

A call point is part of the means of raising a fire alarm, so one out of service needs putting right quickly. Holding spares can avoid a return visit.

Call points are usually placed on escape routes and at exits, and a job often covers several units, which is where a pack is useful.

What the figures mean in practice

• 76 mm by 48 mm: the width and the length or depth. Compare them with the element you are replacing.
• 2.5 mm: the height figure, which is the thickness of this flat part.

Installing it

Changing an element is fire alarm maintenance. Tell the building's responsible person and put the zone or panel into test first, then check the point operates and resets afterwards.
