What this call point does

A manual call point lets someone raise a fire alarm by hand. This Eaton unit comes from the Fulleon CX Mains range and works by switching contacts, and not by sending data.

That makes it a plain switching device on a conventional circuit. It has no address of its own for a panel to read back.

How it works

• Changeover contacts: As a rule, a changeover contact has a common terminal and two others, one closed at rest and one open. Operating the point swaps them.
• The element: it is a glass + plastic resettable element.

Where to use it

It mounts on an internal wall surface and is rated IP24. The first digit of an IP rating relates to solid objects such as fingers, and the second to water.

Call points usually go at exits and on the routes people use to leave. Positions come from the system design and fire risk assessment.

Installing it

• Check the supply first: take the voltage and contact rating from Eaton before wiring the contacts.
• Cable route: cables enter from the rear, so plan for a fixing position that allows that.
• Depth on the wall: allow for the 53 mm projection where doors or trolleys pass close by.
