The Eaton 9PX3000IRTBPH is a 3000 VA / 3000 W single-phase uninterruptible power supply from the 9PX line, supplied as a 3U rack-or-tower chassis with a hardwired connection and a maintenance bypass supplied with it.

This is the hardwired member of the 9PX 3000 family. Instead of terminating in IEC outlets, the 9PX3000IRTBPH is wired directly into the installation. That is what a fixed distribution board, a rack tail or a plant room panel usually wants, and what a plug-and-socket model cannot give you.

It is a single-phase unit. It carries a maintenance bypass in the box, so the UPS can be taken out of circuit for service without dropping the load. The chassis is 3U and converts between rack and tower, so the same unit suits a comms cabinet and a floor-standing position in a riser or a plant room.

Brackets for 19-inch mounting, a rack-mounting kit and tower supports are all supplied. Internally it runs six sealed lead acid (VRLA) batteries of 9.0 Ah. It weighs 27.41 kg, so plan the lift and the shelf.

Use cases

A hardwired 3 kVA UPS lands in a specific set of places. The first is a comms room or riser where the cabinet load is fed from a local distribution board rather than a socket strip. The electrician wants a fixed connection with a proper isolator either side.

The second is plant and controls: a BMS panel, an access control head end, a fire alarm or CCTV headend cabinet, or a small process controller. These are loads that must not blink, where a plug is the wrong answer because a plug can be pulled. The third is a small edge or branch installation where a single 3U unit has to protect everything in one cabinet and then convert to tower when the cabinet is later removed.

The maintenance bypass is the part that decides many specifications. On a system nobody is allowed to shut down, taking the UPS out of circuit for a battery change without an outage is worth more than any headline efficiency figure. Plan the installation with a competent electrician, size the runtime against the actual connected load rather than the nameplate, and agree the battery replacement interval at handover rather than discovering it four years later.
