About this product

Please note: this is a non-returnable item (excluding faulty goods)

The Eaton 9PX3000IRTBPH is a 3000 VA / 3000 W single-phase uninterruptible power supply from the 9PX line, supplied as a 3U rack-or-tower chassis with a hardwired connection and a maintenance bypass supplied with it.

This is the hardwired member of the 9PX 3000 family. Instead of terminating in IEC outlets, the 9PX3000IRTBPH is wired directly into the installation. That is what a fixed distribution board, a rack tail or a plant room panel usually wants, and what a plug-and-socket model cannot give you.

It is a single-phase unit. It carries a maintenance bypass in the box, so the UPS can be taken out of circuit for service without dropping the load. The chassis is 3U and converts between rack and tower, so the same unit suits a comms cabinet and a floor-standing position in a riser or a plant room.

Brackets for 19-inch mounting, a rack-mounting kit and tower supports are all supplied. Internally it runs six sealed lead acid (VRLA) batteries of 9.0 Ah. It weighs 27.41 kg, so plan the lift and the shelf.

Key features

  • Rated capacity: 3000 VA and 3000 W, so the volt-amp and watt figures do not diverge the way they do on older UPS designs.
  • Hardwired connection: This variant terminates in a single hardwired connection rather than a bank of IEC sockets. That is why it is specified where the load is wired into fixed distribution.
  • Maintenance bypass supplied: A maintenance bypass is supplied with the unit, so the UPS can be isolated for service or battery work without taking the connected load down.
  • Rack or tower, 3U: The chassis is a 3U rack-or-tower design measuring 44.0 cm wide, 13.0 cm high and 48.5 cm deep, and both 19-inch mounting brackets and tower supports are in the box.
  • Battery configuration: Six sealed lead acid (VRLA) batteries of 9.0 Ah, a chemistry and count worth knowing before you plan a replacement cycle or a battery disposal route.
  • What is in the box: Supplied with the UPS: a maintenance bypass, an input cable, a cable locking system, a rack-mounting kit and two 19-inch mounting brackets. Also two tower supports, a serial cable, a USB cable, safety instructions and a quick-start guide.
  • Weight and handling: 27.41 kg, so it is a two-person lift into a cabinet and the shelf or rails need to be rated accordingly.
  • Warranty: Eaton's datasheet for this catalogue number lists three years on the electronics and two years on the battery.
  • Compliance: CE marked, RoHS compliant and WEEE compliant.

Use cases

A hardwired 3 kVA UPS lands in a specific set of places. The first is a comms room or riser where the cabinet load is fed from a local distribution board rather than a socket strip. The electrician wants a fixed connection with a proper isolator either side.

The second is plant and controls: a BMS panel, an access control head end, a fire alarm or CCTV headend cabinet, or a small process controller. These are loads that must not blink, where a plug is the wrong answer because a plug can be pulled. The third is a small edge or branch installation where a single 3U unit has to protect everything in one cabinet and then convert to tower when the cabinet is later removed.

The maintenance bypass is the part that decides many specifications. On a system nobody is allowed to shut down, taking the UPS out of circuit for a battery change without an outage is worth more than any headline efficiency figure. Plan the installation with a competent electrician, size the runtime against the actual connected load rather than the nameplate, and agree the battery replacement interval at handover rather than discovering it four years later.

Eaton 9PX3000IRTBPH 3000VA/3000W Hardwired UPS, 3U Rack and Tower

Who this is for

For the installer: this is the hardwired 9PX 3000, catalogue part 9PX3000IRTBPH — 3000 VA and 3000 W, single phase. The chassis is 3U rack-or-tower, measuring 44.0 cm wide by 13.0 cm high by 48.5 cm deep and weighing 27.41 kg.

This variant terminates in one hardwired connection, so you pick it when the load is fixed-wired rather than plugged in. A maintenance bypass is supplied, so you can isolate the UPS for service without dropping that load. The internal battery string is six sealed lead acid (VRLA) cells at 9.0 Ah.

Rack brackets for 19-inch mounting, a rack-mounting kit and tower supports are all in the box, along with a serial cable and a USB cable for monitoring. Termination is an electrician's job; plan the isolation either side before the unit arrives.

If you are not an installer: a UPS is a battery and electronics box that sits between the mains and your equipment so that when the power fails, the equipment keeps running. This one is sized at 3000 watts, which is enough for a well-populated comms cabinet or a control panel.

It is the wired-in version rather than the plug-in version, so it is installed by an electrician rather than plugged into a socket. It can be bolted into a 19-inch rack or stood upright on the floor.

Buying this in the UK

Questions we get asked

  • Does it have sockets? No. This variant terminates in a single hardwired connection; it is wired in, not plugged in.
  • Can I service it without switching the load off? A maintenance bypass is supplied with the unit for exactly that.
  • Rack or tower? Both. It is a 3U chassis and the brackets, rack kit and tower supports are all included.
  • What batteries are inside? Six sealed lead acid (VRLA) batteries rated 9.0 Ah.
  • Is it single or three phase? Single phase, in and out.
  • How heavy is it? 27.41 kg — treat it as a two-person lift.
  • Does it come with monitoring cables? A serial cable and a USB cable are listed in the supplied contents.
