What this gang box is for

An indoor station is the screen or handset inside a home or office on a door entry system. It needs something solid to fix to and a tidy place for its cable to end.

This Hikvision box provides that. It sits behind the mounting plate, and the plate then holds the station.

Where to use it

Use it where the station is going on a wall and a box in the wall makes for a neater finish. It does the same job for an indoor station as a back box does for a socket.

The working figures point to ordinary rooms, so keep it out of wet areas.

Installing it

• Order of fixing: the order goes from wall to gang box, then mounting plate and screws, then the indoor station.
• Depth: measure the wall before you cut, because a thin partition may not take a box this deep. Allow for plaster too.
• Cable: bring the cable into the box before you fix it, and leave enough length to connect the station comfortably.

Planning your system

The box is only the fixing point. The job also needs the indoor station itself, a door station outside, and whatever intercom accessories your layout calls for.
