Overview

A fixed lens forces a choice between a wide view and a close one. This Hikvision turret camera has a motorised zoom lens, so the view can be set and changed from the software.

It suits a driveway, car park, yard or entrance where the distance to the area of interest is not known until the camera is up.

How it works

• Motorised varifocal: the lens moves between 2.8 and 12 mm under remote control, from a horizontal view of 112.3° down to 41.2°.
• Darkfighter: Hikvision's low light range. The F1.2 aperture lets in more light, and below that the IR cut filter switches the camera to black and white with IR.
• Deep learning: software trained on examples sorts motion into people and vehicles, so alerts can be limited to those targets.
• H.265+: a compression method that needs less storage and bandwidth than older formats for a similar picture.

Where to use it

The metal body is rated IP67 and IK10, and its anti-corrosion design meets NEMA 4X. It works from -30 ° C to 60 ° C, so exposed walls and poles are within its range.

Use the wide end for an area close to the camera, and zoom in for a gate or a parking row further away.

What the figures mean in practice

• DORI: detect, observe, recognise and identify. At the wide end, plan on 8.9 m to identify someone; at the tele end, that stretches to 22.0 m.
• Up to 40 m IR: the reach of the camera's own infrared lighting in darkness. Beyond that, extra lighting is needed.
• 120 dB WDR: WDR keeps detail in a scene with strong back light, such as a doorway facing the sun.

Installing it

One network cable can carry power and data using PoE, IEEE 802.3af, Class 3. Without PoE, a 12 VDC supply connects to the 2-core terminal block, which has reverse polarity protection.

The camera weighs approx. 1230 g, so fix it to a solid surface. For poles or ceilings, the DS-1475ZJ-Y pole mount and the DS-1661ZJ-Y pendant mount are optional accessories.

Planning your system
