What this indoor station is for

An indoor station is the screen inside a building that shows who is calling from the door. You see them, speak to them and release the door without walking to it.

This Hikvision model also behaves like a small wall tablet. It runs Android, so one screen can handle door calls and a few chosen apps as well.

How it works

• IP connection: it talks to door stations over your network, using TCP/IP, SIP and RTSP. It connects by cable or by 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
• PoE: Power over Ethernet carries power and data on one network cable. This station accepts standard PoE to IEEE802.3af, so a suitable switch can save a separate supply.
• Hik-Connect: this app comes pre-installed, and it is a way to manage its devices from one place without switching systems.

Where to use it

It is an indoor product for surface mounting on a wall. Good spots are hallways, reception desks and kitchens where the screen is easy to reach and see.

Keep it away from condensation and damp rooms. The working humidity is 10% to 90% with no condensing.

What the figures mean in practice

• 1024 × 600: the number of dots across and down the screen. It is enough to recognise a caller, but it is not a high resolution tablet display.
• 16 cameras, 17 doorphones: these are the linked capacities, so a larger site can bring several entrances and cameras onto one screen.
• App resources: together the apps should stay under 1 GB of flash, 500MB of RAM and 30% of CPU. Overload data would be cleared, so keep to light apps.
• 0.3 A lock relay: this is a small rating. Many locks draw more, so a separate power supply and an extra relay may be needed.

Installing it

• Fixing: plan for the 254 mm × 166 mm body and the cable entry before you fix anything to the wall.
• Adding apps: apps are uploaded from a computer using iVMS-4200 Version 3.9.1.4 or later, with firmware V2.1.80_build230320 or later on the station. They then install automatically.
• Storage: a TF card, up to 128 G, can be added. TF is the same physical format as a microSD card.

Planning your system

The station needs at least one IP door station to be useful. Check that the door station and indoor station are both IP models from the same range before ordering.

You also need a network point at each screen. Add a PoE switch, or a 12 VDC supply such as the DS-KAW50-1N offered as an optional accessory. A DS-KABH9510-T table stand is the other option if the wall will not suit.
