About this product

Please note: this is a non-returnable item (excluding faulty goods)

Hoyles TAG2 is a random person selector.

Does searching staff cause you problems? Search regimes are disruptive and cause tension amongst staff leading to allegations of discrimination and victimisation. Stop and Search is invaluable providing re-assurance to staff that if subjected to a search regime it is at least carried out randomly and that no one is being singled out for special treatment.

It is impossible to control the randomness or create a guessable pattern. There are two versions available, in its most simple form the Stop n Search II is a battery operated unit, on pressing the button a random search selection is created. The Stop n Search III is a more sophisticated mains powered unit that can be used to control an exit door and signal to remote equipment.

How does the Stop n Search work? The principle of operation is the same for both units and can be used on leaving or entering premises where staff pilfering, pupil search in schools is required or the carrying of weapons or drugs may be a problem. The selection frequency is set up on installation but can be changed to suit changing circumstances.

The selection frequency can be set as 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 70 or 90 percent. If for example a selection frequency of 30% is used then 30 in 100 people would be selected randomly. The software will generate a selection if the button is permanently pressed in order to deter users from trying to disable the system.

The integral power supply is NOT sufficient to power electronic door locks. If desired the TAG3 can be powered from an external supply of 12 vdc.

Who this is for

For the installer — this is the random person selector supplied under Hoyles part number TAG2. Specify it by that part number.

The entries in the specification table are the ones held against this part number. Anything not listed there is not stated by us, and should be confirmed against the manufacturer's own documentation.

In plain English: this is a random person selector made by Hoyles. The part number TAG2 is the manufacturer's own code for this exact version of it.

Similar-looking items in the same family often differ only by a suffix on that code. If you are replacing something, match the code rather than the picture.

Buying this in the UK

We are a UK supplier and this random person selector is sold and shipped from the UK. Prices are shown in pounds sterling.

This item is non-returnable, excluding faulty goods. That restriction comes from the manufacturer's own terms for this line.

We do not quote a warranty term for this part. Every supplier-stated term we have checked against the manufacturer's own document has turned out to be wrong, so we would rather say nothing than say something we cannot stand behind.

Ask us and we will check it for you. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Stock on this line moves, and lead times move with it. Ask us for the current position before you commit to a date on site.

Questions we get asked

Is this the exact random person selector I have been quoted? Check the manufacturer part number TAG2 against your quote. That code is the only reliable identity for this item.

Is there a datasheet? Yes — the documentation attached to this listing was checked and names this exact part number. Documents that named only the family, or a different item, are not attached.

Can you check compatibility for us? Ask before you order and we will check it against the manufacturer's own documentation. We do not state compatibility that the record does not carry.

Why does the listing not answer every question? Because the specification held against TAG2 answers some questions and not others. We would rather leave a gap visible than fill it with something we cannot show you.

What if I order the wrong version? Tell us the installation you are matching and we will work back to the part number with you. That is a faster conversation than a return.

Do you hold this in stock? Availability on this line changes through the week, so the honest answer is to ask us on the day. We will give you the current position rather than a general one.
