MAGDUO8BKIT 8 Zone Two Wire Fire Alarm Kit

The panel

The kit's panel is the MAGDUO8 or MAGDUO8B, a 2-wire fire alarm panel; on the MAGDUO8B, which has 8 zones, each zone takes up to 32 devices (depending on device loading units, 160 per zone), sounders and detectors can be mixed on zones, and the maximum cable length per zone is 500 m.

The MAGDUO8B has 2 programmable inputs (3.3 Volts @ 10mA, unmonitored), 1 monitored input (3.3 Volts @ 10mA) and 2 output zones. Its 2 monitored outputs are rated at 28V DC @ 200mA each, its 2 unmonitored outputs are fire & fault at 30V DC @ 1A each, and its auxiliary output is 24V DC @ 250mA.

Its operating voltage is 21 - 31 V DC (nominal 24 V DC), with a nominal operating current of 700 mA. Its standby supply is 2 x 12V 3.2 Ah SLA batteries, sold separately. The V0 rated ABS MAGDUO8B panel measures 331 x 331 x 99 mm and weighs 2.36 kg. It is rated IP30.

The MAGDUO8B's operating temperature is +5 to +40 °C.

The detectors and call points

The MAGDUOSHDS (6 in the kit) is a FlexiPoint combined smoke & heat detector with sounder, and the MAGDUOSHDSS (1 in the kit) is the one with sounder & strobe; both are selectable optical smoke / heat detectors with base included. Each gives a sound output at 1m of 70+ dB on low and 90+ dB on high.

Both detectors are 2-wire conventional, run at 18 - 32 V DC, take cable up to 1.5 mm² and measure ø107 x 75 mm. Their operating temperature is -10 to +50 °C. Maximum current consumption is 23.8mA for the MAGDUOSHDS and 28.5mA for the MAGDUOSHDSS. The MAGDUOSHDS is rated IP21C.

The MAGDUOCP (2 in the kit) is a resettable call point with a type A frangible element and a red LED. It is 2-wire conventional, takes cable up to 1.5 mm² and measures 87 x 87 x 53 mm (surface) or 87 x 87 x 25 mm (flush). Its maximum current consumption is 16.5mA.

In the box

The kit comes with 2 battery leads (1 red, 1 black), 1 battery connecting lead, 1 x 315mA quickblow fuse, 2 panel keys, 2 x 680 Ohm resistors, 2 x 10K ohm resistors and 2 x 3.275K Ohm resistors, plus 1 MAGDUOSHDRT head removal tool.

Its accessories are the BAT32 12V 3.2Ah SLA battery, the MAGDUOPK (2 MAGDUO panel keys), the MAGDUOPCPS MAGDUO software and the MAGDUOBBB battery expansion box for MAGDUO.
