Patol End of Line Unit, Fire & Fault Test Key Switch, ABS, Digital LHDC 700-576

Overview

Linear heat detection cable runs along a route and raises an alarm when it is heated. The far end of the run needs a termination so the system can tell a healthy cable from a broken one.

Its key switch lets an engineer check fire and fault signals at the far end of the run, without opening the box.

How it works

• End of line monitoring: the unit gives the controller a known condition to watch, so a break in the cable shows as a fault.
• Key switch: a key-operated switch for fire and fault tests, so only someone holding the key can operate it.

Where to use it

Fit it at the end of each digital heat cable zone. Heat cable is often chosen where point detectors are hard to place or maintain.

The ABS box is rated IP66, so it can suit damp or dirty plant areas.

Installing it

• Cable entry: bring the cable in through the single PG 7 gland and check the cable's outer diameter suits it.
• Position: as a rule, mount it where the key switch can be reached for routine tests.
• Commissioning: test the fire and fault signals at the controller before handing over.

Planning your system

A run of linear heat detection cable also needs its controller and, where the route needs a joint, a junction box such as the Patol 700-508 through connector.

Other fire alarm accessories may be needed for the route, such as fixings and fire-rated glands.
