Pyronix EURO 76 Alarm Kit, Hybrid Panel with Keypad, 3 PIRs and Deltabell E, EURO76/S-KIT

Overview

This kit is built around the EURO 76 Small, a metal hybrid control panel from Pyronix. Hybrid means it can run wired devices and, with an expander, wireless ones as well.

The PIRs in the kit are wired, so it suits a job where cable can be run. It is one of several burglar alarm kits worth comparing before choosing.

How it works

The panel is the brain of the system. Detectors report to it and it decides what counts as an alarm. Read how intruder alarms work for the wider picture.

• PIR detectors: PIR stands for passive infrared. These detectors sense the body heat of someone moving through a room.
• Sounders: the Deltabell E and the TwinAlert Internal Sounder are the kit's two warning devices. The panel's siren and strobe output is rated 500mA.
• Keypad: users set and unset the system here. Prox means it reads a proximity tag as well as a code.

Where to use it

As a rule, Grade 2 is aimed at low to medium risk premises, which covers most homes and many small businesses. Check what an insurer asks for on the site.

The panel's operating temperature is -10°C to +50°C and its environmental class is II. Class II usually means indoors, so the panel belongs inside the building.

What the figures mean in practice

• 8 (76) inputs: 8 inputs are on the board. Every detector takes one, and expanders carry the total to 76.
• 6 areas or levels: these let a shop floor and an office be armed separately.
• 5 outputs, expandable to 75: an output lets the panel switch another device when something happens.
• 3 - 7Ah battery capacity: this is the size range the panel takes. A larger battery in that range generally gives longer standby, so size it to the load on the job.

Installing it

Follow Pyronix's installation manual for fixing and wiring steps. Default resistor values are in the specification table.

As a rule, plan cable routes and detector positions before fixing the casing, and keep PIRs away from heaters and direct sun.

Planning your system

In most installations a working system also needs a battery, cable and door or window contacts if openings are to be protected. Check these against the kit contents before ordering.

• App or remote signalling: the DIGI-WIFI/XA WIFI Communicator and the DIGI-LAN Ethernet Communicator suit this panel family, and so does the DIGI-GPRS+SIM.
• More wired zones: the ZEM8/E+PBOX compact module and the EURO-ZEM8 are the wired options. The panel takes up to 8 wired zone expanders.
• Wireless devices: the EURO-ZEM32-WE is the 32 Zone Wireless Expansion Module. Check the panel's limits in the specification before planning a wireless layout.

Standards explained

EN 50131 is the European standard series for intruder alarm systems. The grade on the panel does not set the grade of the finished system, because that depends on every device fitted to it.
