What is in the box

Everything for a four-camera system arrives together — the recorder with a 1 TB drive already fitted, four weatherproof cameras and the cable. Each camera needs one network cable and nothing else, because Power over Ethernet carries the picture and the power down the same lead. The RC24KB4G has grey cameras and the RC24KB4W white.

What it records

Each camera records at 2MP (1920 × 1080), and the recorder handles 64 Mbps across all four at once. It will accept up to 4K, so sharper cameras can be added later without replacing the recorder.

Coverage and night

The 2.8 mm lens is fixed and wide — 106.7° across — which suits a frontage or a yard better than a long driveway. It carries both a white LED and infrared, and ESP rates it for colour images around the clock.

Getting at the footage

Plug a monitor straight into the recorder by HDMI or VGA, or watch from a phone or a PC. It can record continuously, to a schedule, only on movement, or on an intelligent event such as someone crossing a line you have drawn.
