STI Call Point Cover, Clear Hinged Integral Cover for ReSet Call Points STI-CI

What this cover does

A manual call point works by someone pressing it, so it can also be set off by a passing trolley or a curious hand. A clear cover puts a small barrier in front of the device while keeping it in plain view.

This one is made for a short list of STI devices. It attaches to moulded slots on the device.

Where to use it

It suits places where the risk is everyday bumps and casual tampering, not determined vandalism. The protection covers minor damage or tampering.

As a rule, fitting any cover over a call point should be agreed with whoever holds responsibility for the fire alarm system, because the device must stay easy to find and operate.

What the material means in practice

• UV-stabilised: the plastic has been treated to resist damage from sunlight, which helps it stay clear for longer.
• Polycarbonate: a tough, impact-resistant plastic, which is why it can withstand knocks.

Installing it

Check the device first. It must be an STI ReSet Call Point, a Waterproof ReSet Call Point or a StopperSwitch, because those carry the moulded slots this cover uses.

Follow the instructions supplied with the device.

Planning your system

Buy the device separately, as the cover does not include one. If a site needs more than this cover gives, STI offers two heavier options, which come with or without an integral sounder.

Usually, a separate call point cover is the better route where damage is a known problem, and a survey of the site should decide that.
