About this product

The Videx 317 is an active four way distribution box for VX2300 door entry systems, connecting four intercoms or videophones to the 2-wire BUS. If there is a problem on one, it isolates those four units without affecting the rest of the system, which suits blocks of flats.

Key features

  • Connects a group of phones – four devices, intercoms or videophones
  • Limits a fault to one group – isolates all 4 units without affecting the rest of the system
  • Keeps the picture strong – improved video signal amplification
  • Simple to adjust – 3-level amplification via jumper (low, medium and high)
  • Easy to diagnose – green LED for BUS voltage, red LED for short circuit
  • No separate supply – power supplied by the BUS

For installers

  • Power: supplied by the BUS.
  • Mounting: wall mount, plastic box, 70 x 110 x 30 mm.
  • Cabling: connects to the 2-wire BUS. An Art.317 is required for every 4 intercoms/videophones.
  • Compatibility: for the VX2300 system. Up to 25 devices on the same BUS riser (100 apartments).
  • Standards: electronic short circuit protection. Working temperature -20° +60°C.

Videx VX2300 Active 4 Way Distribution Box, 2-Wire BUS 317

What this distribution box is for

In a block with many flats, a door entry riser serves every phone, and one faulty unit should not take the others down. This Videx box splits the riser into small groups for that reason.

It is a part for installers and maintenance teams building a VX2300 system, rather than something a resident would normally see.

How it works

  • Active: An active box contains electronics rather than simply joining wires, which is why it can amplify and isolate.
  • Isolation: when something goes wrong, electronic short circuit protection separates that group from the BUS riser.
  • Video amplification: the jumper sets low, medium or high. Choose the setting that gives a clean picture at the phones.

Where to use it

It is a plastic wall mount box, working from -20° +60°C. Risers and service cupboards are the usual places, because it needs to be near the bus and the phone cables.

Keep it in a dry enclosure or indoor space.

What the figures mean in practice

  • Every 4: count your phones and divide by 4, then round up to get the number of boxes for the job.
  • 25 on one riser: Videx ties this to 100 apartments, so a larger block will need its layout planned around more than one riser.
  • 110 long: this is small enough for most cupboards, but leave room to reach the jumper and see the two lights.

Installing it

  • Check the lights: green should show BUS voltage once connected, while red points to a short circuit on the output, so check those phone cables first.
  • Set the jumper: Start at the middle setting, check the picture at the furthest phone, then adjust.

Planning your system

This box is only one link in the chain. The system also needs door panels, intercoms or videophones, a power supply and bus cabling, all suited to VX2300.

Check each phone model is made for VX2300 before ordering.
