Videx VX2200 Video Door Entry Cabinet, 1 Door, with Timeclock 2291V-1D

What this cabinet is for

Most door entry systems need a place where the door panel, the indoor units and the power all meet. This cabinet is that point: the common databus, video and power supply connections cable back to it.

It is the 1 door model in the Videx 2291V series, for one entrance on a VX2200 video system. It is part of a wider set of door entry and intercom systems.

How it works

  • Databus: the shared data line that carries calls and commands between devices on a digital system.
  • Switching card: the VX123-1 passes the common databus and video signal from the door entry panel through to the video devices in an apartment.
  • Two power supplies: the UBPSU3.5 gives 13.8Vdc for the system, and the HDR-30-15 provides the voltage for the video devices.
  • Trade facility: a timed setting on the door panel. The 701T sets when it runs, using 6 fully programmable timebands.

Where to use it

This is a surface mounted steel cabinet with a lock and keys, so it suits a riser or a plant cupboard. As a rule, pick a dry place with a mains supply close by and room to work with the door open.

Databus isolation cards are for other cabinets in the series. If a fault on one apartment's wiring must not affect the rest, check that point before choosing this model.

What the figures mean in practice

  • 3x 13.8Vdc fused outputs: these allow for the load of the PSU to be spread across several 13.8Vdc devices. The fuses are 1x 1A and 2x 1.25A, so plan which device goes on which output.
  • 15-18Vdc 2A: the video supply has an adjustment POT, so it can be set within that range. It is a class II isolated unit on a standard UK DIN rail.
  • 12Vdc 7aH: this is the size of the backup battery. It runs the battery backup facility of the 13.8Vdc supply. Work out the standby time for your own system before relying on it.

Installing it

  • Space: allow 360 (W) x 455 (H) x 75 (D) mm on the wall.
  • Mains: the mains connection is work for a competent electrician, with the local isolation the installation needs.
  • Timeclock: The 701T has a built-in battery backup feature, a manual override feature and automatic British summer time correction.

Planning your system

A complete job also needs a door panel, a videophone for each apartment and a lock. Those parts are grouped under door stations and monitors, and intercom systems.

Replacement parts include the UBPSU3.5 power supply and the 701T timeclock. Backup batteries sit under batteries and battery packs, but match the NP7-12 size.
