Vimpex Hydrosense HS Leak Detection Probe, 3 m, Conventional HS-WLDP-3M

Overview

Hydrosense is Vimpex's water leak detection system. This probe is the point detector in the HS conventional range, used where a leak is most likely to collect.

This is the 3 m version; Vimpex also makes the Vimpex HS-WLDP 1 m probe. Other water leak detectors cover wireless and cable-based options.

How it works

The HS conventional panel supports two styles of detection: linear, with Hydrowire sensing cable, and point, with probes like this one. A probe sits at one spot and signals the panel when water reaches it.

Probes on a zone report together, so the panel shows which zone has a leak rather than which probe.

Where to use it

As a rule, good spots are low points near tanks, pumps, pipe joints and air conditioning units.

Under equipment that drips, a drip tray mounting kit lets the probe watch the tray instead of the floor.

Installing it

Vimpex's 3 m probe kit pairs this probe with the Vimpex HS-WLJB junction box. Place it where water would pool first, not where it would run past.

Where knocks are likely, fit the Vimpex HY-WLDP-C protection cage. The Hydrosense height adjustment kit sets the probe at a chosen height.

Planning your system

Count the probes per zone, up to 20, then pick a panel with enough zones, such as the Vimpex HSCP-S-4-230 4 zone panel. Add the HS-WLJB junction boxes, cages or tray kits the layout needs.

As a rule, test each probe with a little water at commissioning and at each service.
