What this filter pack is for

An aspirating smoke detector pulls air through sampling pipes and checks it for very small amounts of smoke. Keeping dirt away from its sensing parts matters, because they have to stay clean to read the air properly.

This Xtralis pack is the spare metal filter for that job on the FAAST FLEX range.

How it works

• Where it sits: inside the detector, in the path of the air. A sample of air is filtered and then passed into the detection chamber.
• What it stops: dust particles and lint are removed from the air sample by mesh filtration.

Where to use it

Use it only as a spare on FAAST FLEX detectors.

Dusty sites tend to load filters faster than clean ones, so check the site's own inspection records when deciding how many spares to hold.

Installing it

• Before you open the detector: tell whoever is responsible for the fire alarm, and disable or isolate the detector as your site procedure requires. The area may have reduced protection while the work is done.
• Follow the instructions: refer to the installation instructions as supplied for the filter change steps.
• After the change: check the detector shows normal status and record the work in the system log book.
