Xtralis by Honeywell OSI-10 is a detector from the OSID range.

The OSI-10 covers a distance of 30 - 150m with the OSE-SPW. This configuration is for a 1 on 1 system and is not suitable to work with high powered emitters. The company that revolutionized very early warning smoke detection with VESDA has reinvented smoke detection for open spaces with Open-area Smoke Imaging Detection (OSID).

OSID by Xtralis provides reliable, cost-effective smoke detection for open spaces where fire detection presents unique challenges and where very early warning is not always the priority. In its simplest configuration, OSID by Xtralis uses one imager, a camera-like device with a wide field of view, and a wired or battery-powered emitter roughly aligned on the opposite wall within the protected area. The emitter sends both infrared and ultraviolet coded light signals to the imager.

If the light reception is altered due to the presence of genuine smoke particles, the imager will go into alarm. The novel use of dual light frequencies in an open-path device enables OSID to discriminate between real smoke and other objects, including insects, steam, condensation and dust, thus drastically reducing false alarms.
