C-TEC Nurse Call Pull Cord Unit, Ceiling or Wall, 800 Series NC807C

What this pull unit does

A nurse call system lets someone ask for help and shows staff where the call came from. This C-TEC unit is a call position worked by a cord, so the person does not need to reach a wall button.

The two bangles sit along the cord, which gives more than one place to grip. They are there for ease of use by the infirm.

How it works

  • Making the call: pulling the cord generates a standard call on the system.
  • Reassurance: the LED is active in alarm, so the caller can see the call registered.
  • Slave wiring: a slave has no reset of its own. It relies on the point it is wired to, which is where a member of staff cancels the call.

Where to use it

It suits bedrooms, bays and other positions covered by an 800 Series system. Check the temperature and humidity of the room against its stated range.

IP21 gives only limited protection against water, so take care with bathrooms. Ask whoever designed the system before fitting it there.

Installing it

  • Fixing: BESA centres are the fixing points of a standard circular conduit box, which makes it a tidy fit on a conduit run.
  • Setting the cord: hang the bangles where a person in the room can reach them, including from the floor if that is part of your plan.
  • Testing: pull the cord, check the LED glows, then cancel from the linked point.

Planning your system

This unit does not stand alone. It needs an 800 Series control unit and usually a linked call or reset point, so count those in the job.

Staff also need to see the call, so plan for an overdoor light or display. The unit has no onboard sounder.
