Frequently asked questions

How many homes can it call?

Four. The CDV-974ID has four call buttons, one for each home or apartment.

Will it work with any monitor?

It works within the 2EASY range. It is compatible with all 2EASY 2-wire video products, so check with CDVI before pairing it with any other system.

Which lock types can it power?

Fail secure only from its internal supply, which gives 12Vdc, 280mA. A fail safe lock is not covered by that internal supply.

Can the reader connect to an access control system?

Yes, through an interface. The reader can work externally via the CDV-ACCS BUS/Wiegand interface, as well as internally via the internal lock relay.

Which cards or fobs does the reader use?

Check the credential with the door system's maker before ordering in quantity. It has a built-in proximity reader.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

It is rated IP54 and -20°C to 55°C. IP54 means protection against dust and water splashes, not jets or immersion.

CDVI CDV-974ID door station, front view

CDVI 2EASY 2-Wire Video Door Station, 4 Button, Proximity Reader, 170° Camera CDV-974ID

What this door station is for

A door station is the panel at the entrance: visitors press a button, and the matching indoor monitor rings. This CDVI panel serves a small block, one of many door stations and monitors for building a door entry system.

It combines two jobs in one housing. It handles video calls to four homes, and its reader lets residents present a credential at the same panel.

How it works

  • 2-wire bus: the system runs over two conductors with no polarity, so a swapped pair is not a fault at this panel.
  • Fisheye camera: a very wide lens that takes in a lot of the entrance in one picture. Digital pan, tilt and zoom then pick out part of that image.
  • Proximity reader: a credential is held near the panel rather than inserted. It can run internally via the internal lock relay, or externally through the CDV-ACCS BUS/Wiegand interface.
  • Wiegand: a common wiring format between a reader and an access control panel, and the route for a standard wiegand reader input port.

Where to use it

It is rated IP54 with a range of -20°C to 55°C, and the panel is surface mounted, so plan a flat wall beside the entrance. It is for residential installations with four homes/apartments.

A covered position helps keep driving rain and direct sun off the camera. For more homes or a single home, other models in the range may fit better, including those under CDVI products.

What the figures mean in practice

  • 12Vdc, 280mA: the most the internal lock supply gives, and it is for fail secure only. Check the lock's own current draw against this figure.
  • 1 to 99s: how long the lock stays released after an unlock command.
  • Up to 4 door stations: the limit for an ATRIUM connection using CDV-ACCS.
  • 0.8W and 3W: the standby and working power at the 24Vdc supply. Use the working figure when adding up loads.

Installing it

  • Space: allow 176 mm high and 90 mm wide on the wall, with 27 mm of depth from the wall.
  • Lock choice: the internal supply is for a fail secure lock. A fail secure lock stays locked with no power and releases when powered, and anything else needs its own supply and a relay rated for it.
  • Escape routes: a door on an escape route usually needs its own release route, so settle the lock type with whoever holds the fire strategy.

Planning your system

A job also needs an indoor monitor for each home, a power supply and a lock, plus a credential type agreed in advance. 2EASY monitors include the CDV-47B touch monitor and the CDV-470DX-W WiFi monitor.

2 lock outputs are possible with CDVI-RLC, applicable on the monitors only. For a door opened from a phone or panel, an electric strike is one common lock type, and parts such as cable sit under door entry accessories.
