Overview

Where flammable gas or dust can be present, an ordinary camera could ignite the atmosphere. This Hikvision bullet camera has a flameproof stainless steel housing certified for those areas.

It suits chemical plants, docks and other sites with gas or dust hazards, where corrosion is often a second problem. The wider range of Hikvision bullet cameras covers ordinary outdoor sites.

How it works

• Ex db and Ex tb: flameproof and dust-tight protection methods. They keep any spark inside the housing from igniting the atmosphere outside.
• T6 and T80° C: the surface temperature classes. The housing stays at or below 85° C in gas and 80° C in dust.
• Motorised varifocal lens: zoom and focus are set remotely, so there is no need to open the housing on site to frame the view.
• Smart supplement light: adjusts the IR so close objects are not washed out at night.

Where to use it

It is rated for Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21 and Zone 22 areas, and the -40 °C to 60 °C range covers cold exposed plant. IP68 and NEMA 4X add protection against water and corrosion.

Other sealed Hikvision IP68 products cover sites that are wet but not hazardous.

What the figures mean in practice

• DORI: the distances to detect, observe, recognise and identify a person. Identification reaches 4.4 to 15.2 m across the zoom range; the guide to how far CCTV cameras can see explains why real results vary.
• Approx. 17.32 kg: a heavy camera, so the wall or pole fixing has to be rated for it.

Installing it

• Competent installer: as a rule, equipment in a hazardous area is installed and inspected by a competent person, to the site's area classification and the certificate's conditions.
• Wall fixing: the DS-1707ZJ-Y-AC(OS) wall mount is the optional mount for this camera.
• Power and data: use 100 VAC to 240 VAC on the terminal block, or one network cable from an IEEE 802.3at PoE switch or injector. The PoE switch guide explains how to size a switch.
• Cable entries: as a rule, cables entering a flameproof housing need certified glands or conduit to keep the protection intact.

Planning your system

Footage goes to an NVR (network video recorder), and Hik-Connect gives remote viewing. A memory card is only fitted at manufacture, when ordered with the camera.
