About this product

The Hochiki HCP-E/Y(SCI) is a yellow addressable manual call point with a built-in short-circuit isolator, for Hochiki ESP analogue addressable systems. It suits installers who need a yellow call point on an ESP loop. It runs from 17-41VDC, flush mounts as supplied, and has a bi-coloured status LED.

Key features

  • Keeps the loop working – integral short-circuit isolator
  • Shows faults at a glance – LED turns amber on a short-circuit and red when operated
  • Checked by the panel – built-in test function initiated by the control panel
  • Easy to test on site – test key fits in the underside of the unit
  • Resettable – non-frangible element fitted as standard, with an optional glass element
  • Quick to address – set with the TCH-B200 hand held programmer

For installers

  • Power: 17-41VDC from the loop; quiescent 350 μA max, 250 μA typical; alarm 10.0 mA max, 5 mA typical.
  • Mounting: flush mounts as supplied. Surface fixing needs a suitable back box such as the SR MOUNTING BOX, sold separately.
  • Cabling: two terminal blocks for the loop wiring.
  • Compatibility: Hochiki ESP analogue addressable protocol; addressed with the TCH-B200 programmer.

Hochiki HCP-E/Y(SCI) Addressable Manual Call Point with Short-Circuit Isolator, Yellow

Overview

A manual call point lets someone raise the alarm by hand. This is the yellow version of a Hochiki addressable call point, with its own address on the loop and its own short-circuit isolator.

Yellow call points are usually kept for functions other than the main fire alarm. Agree the colour and its use with whoever holds the fire strategy before fitting.

How it works

  • Addressable signalling: the unit talks to the panel digitally using ESP, so the panel shows exactly which call point has operated.
  • Short-circuit isolation: if a short appears on the loop, the isolator separates the faulty section so the rest of the loop keeps working.
  • Self test: a test function started by the panel checks the device, and the LED can pulse when it is polled on panels that support it.

Where to use it

It is an indoor device rated IP24, working from -10°C to +50°C and up to 95%RH, non-condensing. Where an EN54-11 approved device is required, the red version is the approved one.

What the figures mean in practice

  • Quiescent current: every device on a loop draws standby current, and the total sets how many devices a loop can carry and how large the standby batteries must be.
  • Depth: flush mounted it stands 27.5 mm off the wall; on its surface back box the depth is 59.5 mm.

Installing it

Set the address first with the TCH-B200 programmer, then wire the loop into the two terminal blocks. Flush fixing needs no extra box; for surface fixing use a suitable back box.

Once powered, test it with the test key in the underside. The resettable element means no glass to replace after a test.

Planning your system

Check that the fire alarm control panel uses the ESP protocol before ordering. Loop loading and isolator spacing come from the panel maker's design rules, so plan them with the rest of the loop.

Call point covers help stop accidental operation in busy corridors. For the main fire alarm, the red version is the usual choice, and the full range of manual call points covers other colours and makes.

Other Hochiki call points sit in their own range. The fire alarm system guide explains how zones, categories and protocols fit together.

Standards and ratings explained

  • EN54-11: the standard for manual call points in fire detection systems. Where a job specifies it, check the approval covers the exact colour.
  • IP24: protection against fingers and splashing water, suited to indoor walls.
