Texecom Odyssey X3 Alarm Cover, White Frame & White Lens WDB-0003

Overview

A cover is the visible front of an external sounder, the box on an outside wall that many people call a bell box. It decides how the box looks from the street, and it protects what sits behind it.

This Texecom part is one of eight Odyssey X3 covers, which differ by frame and lens colour.

How the Odyssey X3 goes together

• Cover: this part, with its colours set by the code.
• Graphic insert: an optional branded panel for an installer's name or logo. These are offered across the range.
• Electronics: the backplate that holds the working parts. The live and dummy options each have their own part number.

Planning your system

Pick the electronics by the job. The WDD-0002 is a Grade 3 Sounder, the WDD-0001 is a Grade 2 Sounder, and the X-D is a dummy.

For a lit front, look at the WDC-0001 and WDC-0002 modules, which have Integral Backlight. The wireless option is the Odyssey X-W, GBV-0001.

An alarm installer usually sets the grade the job needs, and insurers or a monitoring contract can have a say. A visible bell box is widely seen as a deterrent, so think about where it will be seen from.

Standards and ratings explained

• EN50131-4: the standard for warning devices in intruder alarm systems. It applies to the Odyssey X3 as a sounder and not to a cover on its own.
• Grade: EN 50131 grades run by risk, and a higher number means a higher level of protection. The grades belong to the electronic options.
