What this call point does

A manual call point lets anyone who sees a fire start the alarm by hand, without waiting for a detector to react.

This one belongs on an addressable system, where the panel knows each device individually. Its sealed rating is what sets it apart for damp or exposed positions.

How it works

• Raising the alarm: the type of detection point is a manual alarm button, so a person starts the alarm directly.
• Putting it back: with a resettable element there is no glass to clear up after a press or a test.
• The isolator: isolators split an addressable loop into sections, so a short circuit takes out only part of the wiring and not the whole loop.

Where to use it

The first digit of IP67 means the case is dust tight. The second means it resists temporary immersion in water under the test conditions of the rating.

In most installations, call points sit on routes out of a building and beside final exits, and the system design sets their exact positions.

What the figures mean in practice

• Temperature: compare these limits with the coldest and hottest the spot will reach, because direct sun can matter on an outside wall.
• Humidity: the figure is a limit at a stated temperature, so read both numbers together.
• Loop load: 160uA@27VDC is the consumption during communication, so use your panel maker's loop calculator for the full load.

Planning your system

The job also needs an addressable control panel that accepts this device. Check the protocol with the panel maker first, because a protocol is the digital language a panel and its devices must share.

As a rule, test every call point at the intervals your system design and maintenance plan set out.
