Intercom Systems

Match the system, not just the look. Read the make and model on the old handset, then choose one for the same system type: the Videx 3161 is for the VX2200 system, the Fermax 3444 for DUOX PLUS and the Comelit PAC 2628 for Simplebus 2. The Comelit PAC 2603U and 2703U are universal phones for replacement and repair work.

A handset designed to work with door entry systems from other makers, for replacement and repair jobs. The Comelit PAC 2603U and 2703U are compatible with door-entry phones from many international manufacturers, and the 2703U works on systems with positive or negative common, with loudspeaker, microphone and ringtone volume controls. Check the wiring of the existing system first.

Choose audio where speech and door release are enough, and video where you want to see the caller before opening the door. The Videx 3102 and Fermax 3396 are audio handsets; the Comelit PAC HSV shows 720 × 576 colour video and the Hikvision DS-KH6320-WTE1 has a 7in touch screen. A video handset needs a video door station on the same system.

An intercom that runs over a computer network rather than dedicated intercom wiring, usually powered by PoE. The Aiphone IX-RS-B and IX-RS-W are SIP 2.0 audio sub stations on 802.3af PoE, and the Hikvision DS-KH6110-WE1 indoor station can be controlled with the Hik-Connect app. The Videx 3196 SIP audio phone can be powered by PoE or 12VDC.

Yes. The Mercury 350.003UK wireless digital door phone needs no wires between the outdoor and indoor units, has a 300m range on 433 MHz, and its weatherproof outdoor unit can connect to an electronic lock, which is not supplied. For a gate away from the building, the Optimus E1K 4G GSM intercom forwards calls to your phone instead.

A GSM intercom uses a SIM and the mobile network, so a visitor at the gate reaches your phone without a cable back to the house. The Optimus E1K is a 4G/LTE unit with a 1-button keypad that forwards calls to as many as 3 numbers, supports 100 PIN codes and 100 authorised caller numbers, and has relays for doors, gates and barriers.

Yes. The Fermax 3441 is an induction loop handset that turns the speech into a magnetic field that hearing aids can pick up. It is suitable for the Fermax LOFT. Several Videx 3000 series handsets, such as the 3112 and 3117, can take an added induction coil for people who are hard of hearing.

A master station calls and answers a group of other stations, typically at an office, surgery or concierge desk. The Aiphone TC-10M and TC-20M call 10 or 20 TB sub stations or IE door stations with a privacy handset, and the Hikvision DS-KM9503 is an IP master station with a 10.1in touch screen. On the Videx 2210A concierge unit, an operator can handle and transfer calls.

Often, if the system allows it. The Aiphone GT-1D allows as many as four units in the same tenant location and the GF-1DK two, and the ESP APKITAOH is an additional handset for the ESP APKITAO kit. Check that the door station and power supply can support the extra load before adding a handset.

Some can. Videx 3000 series handsets such as the 3112 and 3117 are desk mountable with the 3038 desk kit, the Bell System 801-DESK comes complete with a desk-mount bracket, and the Aiphone TD handsets have a cradle that can be reversed for desk use. The Aiphone TC-10M and TC-20M master stations are desk mount units.
