Choosing Manual Call Points
Choose a call point to match the fire alarm panel, then the environment it will be fitted in and how it is protected against accidental operation.
Match the panel
Conventional call points wire to a zone on a conventional panel. MAGDUO call points, such as the MAGDUOCP, are made for MAGDUO panels, with a built-in end of line function and the base included. Addressable call points identify themselves on the loop: the C-TEC CA470 uses CAST protocol, the Nittan EV-MCP2-IP24 the Evolution protocol, and MAGPRO-CP suits MAGPRO panels.
Resettable or glass
Resettable call points use a plastic element that is reset with a key after operation, while glass versions need a replacement glass, such as KAC MUS158. Kidde N-MC-RE resettable elements and Eaton point test keys keep call points in service.
Wet and outdoor positions
Weatherproof call points, including the MAGDUOCPIP65, the MAGPRO-CPIP67, the Hochiki HCPWMSCI and the Fike 402-0007-NC, suit outdoor walls and wash-down areas.

Standards & compliance
Call points for fire alarm systems are tested to EN54-11, which is cited on addressable models such as the C-TEC CA470 and Nittan EV-MCP2-IP24.
Covers and colours
Hinged covers, such as the Eaton CXPC and the Nittan-compatible clear cover, reduce accidental and malicious activation. Red call points are for fire, and KAC by Honeywell blue call points, such as the M4A-B000SG-K013-11, are also in the range.

Frequently asked questions
What is a manual call point?
A manual call point is a device, usually red and fitted by exits and on escape routes, that lets a person raise the fire alarm by hand. Pressing or breaking the front element sends an alarm to the fire panel, which then operates the sounders and beacons.
What is the difference between a resettable and a break glass call point?
A break glass call point has a glass element that breaks when pressed and must be replaced, such as with a KAC MUS158 replacement glass. A resettable call point uses a plastic element that is reset with a key, such as the Aico MCP401RC.
Do call points have to match the fire alarm panel?
Yes. A conventional call point wires to a zone, a MAGDUO call point such as the MAGDUOCP is made for MAGDUO panels, and addressable call points use the panel's protocol, such as CAST for the C-TEC CA470 or Evolution for the Nittan EV-MCP2-IP24.
Is there a wireless manual call point?
Yes. The Aico Ei407 RadioLINK manual call point is wireless with a 10-year battery and interlinks with Aico RadioLINK alarms, and the Ajax manual call point connects to an Ajax system by radio. The Ei407 and the Ajax call point avoid running cable to the call point position.
Can manual call points be fitted outdoors?
Yes, weatherproof versions can be fitted outdoors. The MAGDUOCPIP65 and MAGPRO-CPIP67 are rated IP65 and IP67, and the Hochiki HCPWMSCI and Fike 402-0007-NC are weatherproof call points. For an outdoor or wet position, choose a call point with a stated IP rating.
Why fit a cover over a call point?
A hinged cover, such as the Eaton CXPC or the clear cover for Nittan EV-MCP2 call points, has to be lifted before the call point can be operated. This reduces accidental and malicious activations in schools, public buildings and busy corridors without blocking genuine use.
How is a manual call point tested?
With a test key, which operates the call point without breaking or pressing the element. C-TEC BF370SK and Eaton point test keys are in the range, and Kidde N-MC-RE resettable elements and KAC MUS158 replacement glasses restore a call point after it has been used.
What colour are manual call points?
Red, the colour used for fire alarm call points, and KAC by Honeywell blue call points such as the M4A-B000SG-K013-11 are also in the range. Check the colour on the product page against the colour the site's alarm plan specifies.
