Knight Fire & Security
Knight Fire and Security products on this page include flush, surface and roller shutter contacts, MX call points, panic buttons, keyswitches, junction boxes and shock/tilt sensors. The A41MULTI is a Grade 2 flush contact with resistors on swappable modules, the YEND74 is a universal large surface contact for Grade 3 installations, and the F40 is a heavy duty roller shutter contact. The MX87TWG is a triple pole call point designed for outdoor use.
Choosing Knight Fire & Security
Flush contacts
The A40 and A40B are basic 5-screw flush contacts with a 20mm barrel. The AR02 is a 2-terminal contact for Grade 1 installations, designed for use on frames made from steel or other ferrous materials. The C91 is a pencil flush contact, ideal for use on windows or anywhere a standard 20mm recess will not work.
Surface contacts
The D25 is a 5-screw surface contact with a sprung microswitch tamper that detects removal from the fitting surface. The D50 has changeover operation, with 3 screws taking the C, NO and NC positions of the switch. The D70 is a 6-screw large surface contact with a leaf tamper switch.
Angled and fly-lead contacts
The A81B is a sealed unit, so it is wired with the provided fly lead instead of terminals. The H10CBA is a heavy-duty angled contact with a 50cm armoured fly lead. The H10CBMULTI is a waterproof angled contact rated IP67.
Call point elements and hinged cover
The MX002 is a pack of 10 real glass elements for Knight MX call points and the MX005 is a pack of 10 plastic 'like glass' elements; when activated in a unit, an MX002 or MX005 element must be replaced. The MX004 resettable elements are for indoor MX call points and the MX004E elements are for outdoor ones. The MX003 is a clear, hinged plastic cover for areas that are suffering frequent accidental activations.
Panic buttons and keyswitches
The KP1 is a single end-push panic button that latches and must be reset with the provided key, and the PA2EWNL is a non-latching double end-push panic button. The P01 and P02 are DPDT keyswitches made of aluminium: the P01 is supplied keys-differ and the P02 keyed alike.
Junction boxes, speaker and sounder
The J310 is a 10-way conduit junction box with two wiring points reserved for the lid tamper (8+2), and the J80B is an 8-way junction box with a very low profile. The I10 is a surface-mount internal speaker, and the OCT40S is a dual-tone sounder for use in a Grade 3 installation.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Knight Grade 3 door contact be set down to Grade 2?
Yes, on the YEND74, YEND74B, YEND74BK and YEND74GY-7016. On the YEND74, a second tamper reed detects and responds to magnetic interference, meeting the requirements for Grade 3, and this reed may be bypassed by shunt, reducing the product to Grade 2 level. The YEND74GY-7016 can be turned into a Grade 2 device by using the header provided. The XEND24 small surface contact meets the requirements of Grade 3 with additional onboard circuitry that detects and reacts to magnetic interference.
How do the Knight F40 and F10CMULTI roller shutter contacts differ?
The F40 is Normally Open, and the F10CMULTI is normally closed with built-in resistors. The F40 has die cast aluminium housings with the contact sealed in with a resin, a 0.5m fly lead encased in a stainless steel shroud and an operating gap of 50mm. The F10CMULTI is a potted single-reed contact with a 1 m armoured lead and selectable EOL and alarm resistors, which must be used in supervised circuits, with no 4-wire option.
What is the difference between the Knight SEISMO and SEISMO-ADVANCE shock sensors?
The SEISMO is a shock/tilt sensor for Grade 2 installations, and the SEISMO-ADVANCEB and SEISMO-ADVANCEBK are shock/tilt sensors for Grade 3 installations. On the SEISMO, SEISMO-ADVANCEB and SEISMO-ADVANCEBK, the detection mode (Shock, Tilt, Either, Both) and the pulse count (1, 2, 4, 6) are configured on the PCB via shunt links. The SEISMO-ADVANCEB and SEISMO-ADVANCEBK also have terminals for fault output, a mandatory feature for G3 installations, with fault resistors, an LED control terminal and a latch terminal.
What do single, double and triple pole mean on a Knight MX call point?
They give the switching: the single-pole MX54SGS has SPDT operation, the double pole MX74SGS has DPDT operation, and the triple pole MX84SGS and MX84SG have TPDT operation. On the MX54SGS, MX74SGS, MX84SGS and MX84SG the operation is C, NO, NC with no resistors (dry). The MX54SGS, MX74SGS and MX84SGS are resettable with the provided key, and the MX84SG has a breakable MX005 element.
Can two Knight magnetic contacts share one alarm zone?
Yes, the YEND74, YEND74B, YEND74BK, XEND24 and XEND24PACOM surface contacts can be wired in series, allowing two or more contacts to share a zone and work as a single unit. The A41MULTI and XA41MULTI flush contacts are ideal for double door/shared zone use, and the YA40B may be fitted in shared zone, double door or wired in series configurations. The SEISMO shock/tilt sensor cannot be wired as part of a shared zone without compromising the security grade of the system.
