Alarm Panels
An alarm panel is the control unit of an intruder system: detectors, keypads and sirens report to it, and it decides what counts as an alarm and who to tell. Its zones, radio and communication options set the limits of the whole system. Panels here include Honeywell Galaxy, Texecom Premier Elite, Pyronix, Eaton and Aritech Advisor wired and hybrid panels, Ajax, Hikvision AX PRO and Videofied wireless panels, and DMP panel boards.

Choosing Alarm Panels
Pick the panel by the size of the system it has to run, then by how its devices connect to it.
Wired, hybrid or wireless
A hybrid panel takes wired and wireless devices together; some carry the radio on board and others take a radio module inside the panel. The Pyronix ENF32UK-WE Enforcer V11 has 32 wireless and 2 wired zones on board, and the Honeywell C006-L-E1 Galaxy Flex 50 offers up to 52 wired or 40 wireless zones. Wireless panels such as the Ajax Hub 2 Plus 22925.40.WH1 and Hikvision DS-PWA64-L-WE run their devices by radio, and the Ajax 158771.369.WH1 Superior Hub Hybrid 2 takes Fibra wired and Jeweller wireless devices on one hub.
Zones, areas and grade
Zones are the detector inputs, and areas are parts of a building that can be set separately. The Pyronix EURO76L/UK has 76 zones and 6 areas, the Eaton i-onG3LM-KPZ expands to 400 zones at Grade 2 or 3, and the Honeywell C520-D-E1 Galaxy Dimension reaches 520 zones in 32 groups. Grade 3 panels include the Texecom CAD-0018 Premier Elite 168 and the Honeywell C264-D-H1.

|---|---|---|
| Ajax Hub 2 Plus 22925.40.WH1 | Wireless | 200 devices |
| Hikvision DS-PWA96-M-WE | Wireless | 96 zones |
| Pyronix ENF32UK-WE | Hybrid | 66 zones with expanders |
| Honeywell C005-S-E1 Galaxy Flex 20 | Hybrid | 20 zones |
| Texecom CAD-0018 Premier Elite 168 | Expandable PCB | 8 to 168 zones |

Frequently asked questions
What does an alarm panel do?
An alarm panel is the control unit of an intruder alarm: it monitors the detectors, decides when to trigger the sirens and records events. Users set and unset the system at a keypad, fob or app linked to the panel. Many panels can also send alerts to a phone or an alarm receiving centre. The range here includes wired, hybrid and wireless panels, plus keypads and replacement boards.
How do you choose an intruder alarm panel?
Choose an intruder alarm panel by the size of the system, how the devices connect and the security grade the site needs. Count the zones and areas you need now and later, then pick wired, wireless or hybrid connection to suit the building. Check whether you also need app control or a communicator for remote monitoring. The range here includes panels from makers such as Honeywell, Texecom, Pyronix and Ajax.
What is a hybrid intruder expansion module?
A hybrid intruder expansion module adds extra zones to an alarm panel, and it can take wired detectors, wireless detectors or a mix of the two. It connects to the panel's data bus, so it can sit near the detectors it serves and shorten cable runs. Expansion lets a system grow beyond the zones built into the panel board. Check the module suits your panel make and model before fitting.
