Alarm System Accessories

Alarm system accessories are the parts that let an intruder alarm be armed, extended, kept in repair and tested. This range covers keyfobs and proximity tags, wireless receivers, repeaters and zone expanders, plug-on communicators and speech diallers, replacement bell-box covers and dummy backplates, detector brackets and housings, backup batteries and power modules, and installer tools such as walk testers and a break-glass tester. Match any part to the panel or detector it has to work with.

Choosing Alarm System Accessories

Start from the system on the wall: a cover, receiver or keyfob is usually made for one maker’s panel or sounder.

Keyfobs and tags

Keyfobs arm and disarm from a pocket. The Pyronix KEYFOB-WE is a two-way four-button keyfob graded EN50131 Grade 2, and the Ajax SpaceControl S 110753.04.WH1 has arm, disarm, night and panic buttons on 868 MHz Jeweller radio. Proximity tags are presented to a reader or keypad instead, such as the Ajax Tag 38228.90.BL, a pack of 3 MIFARE DESFire fobs.

Receivers, expanders and communicators

The Pyronix UR2-WE brings two-way wireless devices onto a wired panel, taking up to 20 devices and switching 2 alarm relays. The Pyronix EURO-ZEM8+ adds 8 wired zones on RS-485, and the GJD392 D-TECT X receiver has 4 channels, expandable to 16. Communicators send the alarm off site: the Pyronix DIGI-GPRS adds a GPRS path to Enforcer and PCX panels with a SIM that is not supplied, and the Texecom CGA-0001 speech dialler calls up to 8 standard or mobile numbers over a PSTN line.

Bell-box covers and dummy boxes

Replacement lids keep a sounder weatherproof and tidy: Pyronix FPDELTA lids for Deltabell bases come in colours such as white, red, blue, yellow and chrome, and the Texecom WDA-0005 is an Odyssey X1 cover with a black frame and red lens. Dummy backplates such as the Pyronix DELTA-BDR contain no electronics and act as a decoy.

Installing and testing

For commissioning, the Pyronix FP05130 reproduces the flex and shatter signals of breaking glass, so glass-break detectors can be tested without breaking a window. The Optex BAU-4 aligns SL Series beams automatically, so one technician can set up a 200 m beam. Ajax, Pyronix and Texecom make most of the accessories on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I replace just the cover on an alarm bell box?

Yes, a replacement lid fits the existing base, so a faded or cracked cover can be changed on its own. Pyronix FPDELTA lids fit Deltabell bases, and Texecom Odyssey X1 covers such as the WDA-0005 snap over Odyssey X backplates, with the electronic backplate sold separately. Read the make and model on the bell box first, because lids are made for a particular sounder family.

Can I add wireless devices to a wired alarm panel?

Yes, a wireless receiver connects radio devices to a wired panel through relay outputs. The Pyronix UR2-WE learns Pyronix Enforcer two-way devices and passes them to a compatible wired panel, taking up to 20 devices or 12 keyfobs. For Hikvision AX PRO, the DS-PM1-I1-WE works the other way round, letting a third-party wired detector join the wireless system over 868 MHz.

What does an alarm communicator do?

A communicator sends alarm signals out of the building, to a monitoring centre, an app or phones. The Pyronix DIGI-LAN reports over an existing broadband connection in formats such as Contact ID IP and SIA IP, and the Texecom CEG-0001 ComGSM adds GPRS reporting and text messages to Premier and Premier Elite panels. PSTN speech diallers such as the Pyronix FPV2TEL play recorded voice messages to up to 9 numbers.

Will any keyfob work with my alarm?

No, a keyfob has to match the panel’s maker and radio system, so choose one made for your system. The Pyronix KEYFOB-WE is a two-way keyfob with rolling code encryption, the Ajax SpaceControl S talks to Ajax hubs over Jeweller radio, and the Hikvision DS-PKF1-WE(B) gives Stay, Away, Disarm and Lock/Unlock buttons on Hikvision AX Pro systems. Check the panel model before you choose.

What is a dummy bell box?

A dummy bell box looks like an external alarm sounder but contains no electronics, and is fitted as a visual deterrent. The Pyronix DELTA-BDR is a red Deltabell dummy base in weather-resistant polycarbonate, and the Texecom FCE-0033 is an Odyssey 5 dummy backplate that takes Odyssey 5 lids. The Haydon HAY-2LEDMOD adds two alternating white LEDs so the box appears active, running from a CR123A cell.

What tools help when installing an alarm?

Test tools confirm that detectors see what they should before the system is handed over. The GJD380 walk tester gives an audible tone and a white LED when a D-TECT detector triggers, the GJD394 checks D-TECT X signal strength at the receiver, and the Pyronix FP05130 simulates breaking glass for glass-break detectors. For Optex SIP outdoor detectors, the AVF-1 viewfinder helps exclude trees and areas beyond the boundary.
