Time Switches & Immersion Timers

Time switches and immersion timers here are Sangamo controls that switch a circuit on and off to a set programme. They include 3 and 4 pin time switches with red or black dials, astro models, digital time switches, modular timers for DIN-rail enclosures, panel timers, and Powersaver boost controllers such as the PSPB, which switches the appliance off automatically after the boost period. Enclosures, a conduit box, a programming data key and spare fuses complete the page.

Choosing Time Switches & Immersion Timers

Settle where the timer will mount first, whether in a conduit box, a DIN-rail enclosure or a panel, and then the programme it has to run.

3 and 4 pin time switches

The 110469 FD930 conduit box is compatible with the S250, Q550 and E850 ranges, accepts 3/4in or 20mm conduit and is robust steel. Black dial models such as the S255.2 have no battery reserve, while red dial models such as the Q555.2 have a 100-hour battery reserve. Variants add an omit off operation (Q557.2), an optional early off on 1 day a week (Q559.2) or on/off changeover operations (Q563.2), and the Q555.2110V is a 110v version. For a digital switch, the E855 has 96 operations, a holiday mode and auto BST/GMT changeover.

Astro programming

Astro time switches are sold by astro zone, such as the Q551.14.11 for zone 1 and the Q553.14.14 for zone 4. In modular form the 71101 and 72201 are astro timers, and the SC2823PRO4 is a 2 channel astro timer programmable via an app on iOS and Android.

Modular and panel timers

The 143602 module enclosure has an integral DIN-rail, and the 2 module 143603 suits applications where a contactor will be used. The 11002 is a 1 module 24 Hr timer programmed in 15 minute captive segments. The 26404 has 4 channels, 300 operations and accepts external inputs, the 25162 is a yearly timer, and many modular timers take an optional data key for copying settings. Panel timers include the PA16921 7 day timer with battery, programmed by 1 hour captive segments.

Boost controllers

The PSPB is white, the PSPBB black and the PSPBS silver, all with single button operation. The PSPS adds programmable 24/7 operations, a button lock and summer/winter time change.

Should I choose a 24 hour or a 7 day timer?

Choose 7 day if the programme needs to change between days, for example weekdays and weekends; a 24 hour timer repeats one daily pattern. The 11002 is a 24 Hr modular timer set in 15 minute captive segments, while the PA16921 is a 7 day panel timer programmed by 1 hour captive segments. The 25162 is a yearly timer.

What does battery reserve mean on a time switch?

It keeps the time switch running on its own battery through a power cut. Red dial models such as the Q554.2 and Q555.2 have a 100-hour battery reserve, while black dial models such as the S254.2 and S255.2 have no battery reserve. The PA16621 and PA16921 panel timers also come with a battery.

What is an astro time switch?

It is a time switch with astro programming, which adjusts switching to sunrise and sunset through the year. The 3 and 4 pin astro models are sold by astro zone, such as the Q550.13.11 for zone 1, which also has a day omit that skips the on operation. Modular astro timers include the 72101 and 72201.

Can I programme a time switch from my phone?

Yes, with an NFC or Bluetooth model. The 72102NFC and 72103NFC work with Android NFC phones for programming, the SC2813PRO4 and SC2823PRO4 astro timers are programmable via an app on iOS and Android, and the SC4411PRO4 and SC4421PRO4 panel timers are programmable via an Android app.

What does a boost controller do?

A boost controller runs an appliance for a boost period and then switches it off automatically. The Sangamo PSPB, PSPBB and PSPBS single button controllers work this way, and the PSPS adds programmable 24/7 operations with a button lock. The PSB2, PSPB and PSPS fit a single gang surface mount box, which is included, or mount flush.

What do I need to mount a modular timer?

A DIN-rail enclosure sized to the module count. The 143602 module enclosure has an integral DIN-rail, and the 2 module 143603 suits 2 module applications where a contactor will be used. For 3 and 4 pin time switches, the 110469 FD930 conduit box accepts 3/4in or 20mm conduit, with fixings supplied.
